Spaces and Places (A Networked Understanding) is a project based on audio excerpts recorded at the Burdett-Coutts Fountain in Victoria Park, East London. Interviewees were asked to close their eyes and describe their surroundings. The resulting audio was then interpreted visually by artists with no prior knowledge of the site. The collected findings represented a fragmented understanding of the location in question, garnered from multiple perspectives. A networked understanding of place and space.  In doing so, light is shed on how we choose to define place as a concept – and whether a place may exist on equal terms in our shared collective consciousness as mediated by the internet and social media platforms.
